About Rodney Brown
Rodney Brown Canada’s ambassador of northern song, Rodney Brown Thunder Bay’s award-winning singer and songwriter Rodney Brown, recently launched his newest CD, “North Land”, at CD release parties in hometown Thunder Bay and in Toronto. His latest CD is the long awaited sequel to his highly-acclaimed, “The Big Lonely” (2004).

At a packed house at the Finlandia Club on March 7, Rodney and the Thunder Bay All Star Band (some from as far away as Montreal) delivered an evening of rollicking music and great storytelling, featuring the complete set of songs from “North Land”. Songs like Black Spruce, The Flooding of Lac Seul, Attawapiskat, Tecumseh and Pierre Bonga. And the whole place was shaking when the audience joined Rodney in singing about the legend of Northwestern Ontario, King of White Otter Castle.

In Toronto on March 19, Rodney brought the “North Land” music to a full house at Hugh’s Room. And just like in Thunder Bay, Rodney in his great storytelling style, explained the story behind each songs and told fascinating tales from his trip to Scotland last year in search of McGillivray’s house.

“North Land” took two years of research by Rodney into the people, explorations and events during a unique time in history when Fort William (now part of Thunder Bay) was the inland headquarters for the Canadian fur trade. Produced by Paul Mills, “North Land’‘ is filled with songs of adventure and risk, triumph and heartbreak. Rodney weaves his story-telling magic in “North Land” to deliver a musical journey that transports you across the waterways of North American and to the Great Glen of Scotland.

Rodney Brown based in Thunder Bay, Rodney has been performing his songs across North America and the United Kingdom for over 30 years. His latest CD “North Land” features some of Canada’s best roots musicians and will please music and history lovers ....
