Hello and welcome to the Winter Is Here 2009 edition of micro-rodney news. Trustworthy and some times bold news [except for the odd mistake] about the man himself from the mans most trusted source... himself!

micro-rodney news flash! a bold and big division of micro-rodney news

Olympic Torch Relay - Sunday Jan. 3, 2010. - 6:00 pm
Very excited to be part of the outside stage show at the Community Auditorium when the torch makes it’s formal arrival into Thunder Bay. See you there!

Thank you to Home Routes for a very enjoyable tour in October. They are looking for house concert hosts in Thunder Bay and region so if you think you would like to be part of this wonderful series please visit their web site and contact them! www.homeroutes.ca

I played my first Christmas show of 2009 last Saturday and I’m happy to report that I still really enjoy playing for kids especially this time of year. I’ll be playing a few parties and schools during the next two weeks and will be part of the
Community Auditoriums Some Kind of Christmas Show on Dec. 13th.

This February I’ll be touring The Big Lonely Show with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra in Ontario’s Northwest Feb 16 in Fort Frances, 17th in Kenora and the 18th in Sioux Lookout.

In late April I’m touring to Montreal to research my Fort William roots. I’m looking for gigs [places to perform] (-; between here and there and if you would like to host a Rodney Brown concert in your house, community center or your large beautiful soft seat auditorium please email or give me a call!

I’ve been enjoying making slide shows of my songs and posting them on youtube. My newest is a tribute to my father Mel Brown. The song is called Casualty of War and features some old black and white family shots from the 50’s and 60’s. You can see it and others by visiting www.youtube.com/RodneyBMovies

Casualty of War is one of sixteen songs chosen for a soon to be released veterans CD entitled Until You Come Home. The CD is being produced and released in the US by George Mann and some of the other artists contributing songs are Holly Near, Tom Paxton, John Gorka and Utah Phillips!! Cool eh?

In between performances and tours I’m working in Thunder Bay schools this winter. I deliver music composition sessions/lessons for the Royal Conservatory’s Learning Through the Arts Program. It’s been lots of fun helping young students learn the core curriculum through songwriting.

Oh and don’t forget my new CD North Land is available from my web page and I will ship it anywhere in North America for the low low price of $20.00. $21.00 for overseas orders!

I have a few fans in Japan and they recently sent me a link to a picture of a venue they would like me to play at. It looks like a wonderful place to do a show and I’m thinking I may need a fund raiser to get me there....I’ll keep you posted!

Have a great Christmas for those of you who celebrate it!! Keep warm if it’s cold out where you live! Thanks for your time.

Best Wishes, Rodney
